The title Njanum Ente Aniyathiyum means "I am you and you are me". It tells about how both good and bad people exist together in society, but sometimes the bad ones often get more recognition than the good ones. Njanum Ente Aniyathiyum is one of M. T. Vasudevan Nair's most popular novels and it has been adapted into a movie in 2003. The movie was directed by Shaji Kailas, and starred Jayaram and Siddique. Njanum Ente Aniyathiyum was written in 1970s: the most widespread theories suggest the year 1970. However, some scholars state that Njanum Ente Aniyathiyum was published in 1971 and this date is most accurate, despite the fact that its story takes place in a Rajasthan village sometime between 1856 -1877. Njanum Ente Aniyathiyum is a novel about the struggle between good and evil in society, where many people are confused between what's right and what's wrong. The main protagonist of this novel is Augustine. He lives with his mother, his grandmother, his grandfather and his brother. Augustine works as a doctor to help the sick people of the village. However, he sometimes secretly helps their enemies too. When Augustine was young, his father left them because he felt that he could not sustain their lifestyle any longer because it caused him immense sadness at home to see how poor they were compared to the rich families who lived in other areas around them. Augustine gets accustomed to living without his father, but he always hopes to see him one day. Augustine has never felt close to his mother. He also feels uncomfortable around his grandmother because he finds her too superstitious, but he adores his grandfather. Grandfather knew every herb in the forest, and whenever anyone was ill, they would run to him to ask for advice. Augustine's mother has a younger sister named Maryamma, who is also unmarried because she is barren. She feels as if she is cursed. Maryamma is very talented and Augustine loves her a lot because she has always been supportive of him, and has always protected him from his mother. The local landlord who lives in the village treats Augustine's family as if they were dirt and is an extremely cruel man. He owns all the lands in the village and he is not afraid to hurt anyone who opposes him. Bad people know how to hide their sins, so they always get away with their cruelty, which makes it harder for people to distinguish between good or bad people. 54cfa1e7782045
